Rock music is ever evolving, taking new and interesting sounds and incorporating it into music. There are many different sounds within rock and roll such as the Rolling Stones, the Eagles, Chicago and many others dominating the scene in the 70’s.

Heavy metal rock music made an appearance in the 70’s and was populated by bands such as Black Sabbath, Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin. These bands offered an alternative to the people who were not impressed by the soft rock option on the other side.

Rock and roll continued to do really well during the 70’s and started to influence other types of music. Blues music was still the original foundation for the unique sound of rock and roll, but the new sound of disco was starting to overrule rock.

Rock and roll was divided into categories that changed the way in which we listened to rock and roll music. Rock and roll was split into hard rock and mellow/soft rock. Generally, if people liked one, they didn’t want to listen to the other.

Other artists were found and lost in the 70’s such as Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix to name but a few. The 70’s was also the stat of manufactured pop/rock bands to focus on capturing the hearts, and the pockets, of young teenage girls. Bands such as the Monkees were manufactured to be the American version of the Beatles.

Other great bands in this time would be Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac, Genesis and many others.
